Microneedling

Helping Your Skin Renew Naturally

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that works by creating thousands of tiny controlled micro-channels within the skin.

These tiny channels encourage your skin’s natural repair process and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin—two proteins that help keep skin looking firmer, smoother and more youthful.

At the same time, these channels allow professional skin-rejuvenating products to be absorbed more effectively, helping to maximise the benefits of your treatment.

The aim isn’t to change the way you look.

It’s to help your skin look healthier, smoother and naturally refreshed.

Is Your Skin Beginning to Change?

Perhaps you’ve noticed your skin isn’t looking quite as fresh as it once did.

Maybe you’ve started to see fine lines around your eyes, acne scars that have never completely faded, larger pores, or skin that simply feels a little dull and tired.

Or perhaps you’ve tried countless creams and serums but feel they’re no longer giving you the results you were hoping for.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re certainly not alone.

These are some of the most common reasons clients come to see me.

Sometimes they’re preparing for a wedding, a holiday or another special occasion.

Sometimes they simply want to invest in themselves and improve the overall health and appearance of their skin.

What Can Microneedling Help With?

Microneedling may be suitable if you’re concerned about:

• Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Helping to stimulate collagen and elastin, which can soften the appearance of fine lines and improve overall skin firmness.

• Acne Scarring
Helping to improve the appearance of acne scars by encouraging the skin’s natural renewal process and smoothing uneven texture.

• Enlarged Pores
Supporting smoother-looking skin and helping pores appear less noticeable as skin quality improves.

• Uneven Skin Texture
Helping to refine rough or uneven skin, leaving the complexion feeling smoother and looking more even.

• Dull or Tired-Looking Skin
Encouraging skin renewal to help restore a fresher, brighter and healthier-looking complexion.

• Sun-Damaged Skin
Helping to improve the overall appearance of skin affected by years of sun exposure while supporting healthier skin quality.

• Stretch Marks
Often used as part of a treatment plan to help improve the appearance and texture of stretch marks on various areas of the body.

• Certain Surgical Scars
May help soften and improve the appearance of some mature surgical scars following a full consultation and assessment.

• Hair Thinning (Scalp Treatments)
Microneedling can also be used on the scalp to help create an environment that supports healthier-looking hair and enhance professional hair restoration treatments.

More Than Just Facial Rejuvenation

Although Microneedling is most commonly used on the face, it can also be an effective treatment for many other areas of the body.

These include:

Face

Helping to improve skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scarring and overall skin quality.

Neck

Supporting firmer, smoother-looking skin where signs of ageing often begin to appear.

Décolleté

Helping improve sun-damaged skin, fine lines and crepey skin across the chest.

Hands

Rejuvenating one of the first areas to show signs of ageing by improving skin texture and quality.

Abdomen

Often chosen to help improve the appearance of stretch marks, loose skin and overall skin texture.

Arms

Supporting smoother, firmer-looking skin, particularly where crepey skin may be a concern.

Thighs & Buttocks

Helping to improve skin texture, the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks as part of a personalised treatment plan.

Surgical & Trauma Scars

Following a full consultation, Microneedling may help improve the appearance and texture of certain mature scars.

Scalp (Hair Rejuvenation)

Helping to improve skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne scarring and overall skin quality.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Every person’s skin is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

Some clients choose Microneedling as a one-off treatment before a special occasion, while others achieve the best results with a course of treatments.

As a general guide:

  • Skin rejuvenation and hydration – 3–6 treatments
  • Fine lines and wrinkles – 3–6 treatments
  • Acne scarring – 4–8 treatments, depending on the depth of the scarring
  • Stretch marks – 4–8 treatments
  • Surgical scars – Treatment plans vary depending on the age, size and type of scar
  • Hair rejuvenation (scalp) – Usually a course of 6–8 treatments, depending on your individual needs

Most treatments are carried out every 4–6 weeks, allowing your skin time to complete its natural repair and renewal process between appointments.

During your consultation, I’ll assess your skin, discuss your goals and recommend a treatment plan that’s realistic and tailored specifically to you. My aim is always to achieve the best possible results without recommending unnecessary treatments.

Looking After Your Skin Afterwards

Looking after your skin following Microneedling is just as important as the treatment itself.

After your appointment, your skin may feel warm and look pink or slightly red, rather like mild sunburn. This is completely normal and usually settles within 24–48 hours.

To help your skin heal and achieve the best possible results, I recommend:

  • Keeping the skin clean and well hydrated.
  • Avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours, unless otherwise advised.
  • Avoiding saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours.
  • Avoiding swimming until the skin has fully settled.
  • Not picking or scratching the skin while it is healing.
  • Avoiding direct sun exposure and sunbeds.
  • Applying a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days, and continuing to wear sunscreen throughout your course of treatment to help protect your results.

I’ll provide you with full personalised aftercare advice before you leave the clinic and recommend professional homecare products where appropriate to support your skin during the healing process.

Why Combine Microneedling With Other Treatments?

At Sawtry Beauty Clinic, Microneedling is often used as part of a personalised skin rejuvenation programme.

During your consultation, we’ll discuss your skin concerns and decide whether Microneedling alone is the best option, or whether combining treatments may help you achieve your goals more effectively.

Some of the treatments that may complement Microneedling include:

Hydro Dermabrasion

Often recommended before Microneedling to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate the skin, helping to prepare it for treatment and maximise the absorption of professional skincare products.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy delivers carefully selected ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids and peptides, into the skin to support hydration and improve overall skin quality. It can work beautifully alongside Microneedling as part of a skin rejuvenation programme.

Radio Frequency Skin Tightening

If your main concern is loose or ageing skin, Radio Frequency may be recommended alongside Microneedling to help improve skin firmness and support collagen production.

Chemical Skin Peels

For clients concerned about pigmentation, dull skin or uneven skin tone, a course of Chemical Peels may be recommended at different stages of your skin journey to complement your Microneedling treatments.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are an advanced regenerative treatment that supports skin repair, hydration and overall skin quality. Depending on your individual concerns, they may be incorporated into your personalised treatment plan.

It All Starts With Your Consultation

Many clients arrive thinking they need one particular treatment because they’ve seen it on social media or read about it online.

Sometimes they’re right.

Sometimes, after assessing their skin, I recommend something completely different.

My role is to listen to your concerns, assess your skin carefully and explain all of your options, so together we can choose the treatment—or combination of treatments—that is most appropriate for you.

Every skin is unique, and every treatment plan should be too.
